Would you consider attending the Towel Holder Rally and joining us for a time to learn about what’s going with Next Generations Ministry? This will be a great time to meet other parents and learn about opportunities to serve as well as why we do what we do and what’s coming! Whether you currently service, are considering serving, or just want to check it out, know that you are welcome! Dinner and childcare will be included. Click here to RSVP.

LifeGroup Leader’s Meeting Childcare
Once a month

Springdale has presented our students with an opportunity to raise money for their retreats and/or camp. One Sunday a month our LifeGroup Leaders for adult LifeGroups within the church meet after second service. They have reached out to offer students the ability to do childcare for the children of LifeGroup Leaders.

The shifts are once a month for about one and a half or two hours. They will pay $10/hr and it will go into an account that can be put towards the student’s retreats and/or camp. If you, as the parent, would like to do the childcare, it will go towards your student’s account, as well.

The second and third opportunities to serve are March 18th and April 22nd. More dates of the meetings needing childcare will be communicated as they are scheduled. Libby Whitehead is coordinating this opportunity. If you or your student is interested she can be contacted at via email (lalune0@hotmail.com) or phone (502-249-4076).

N’Town Spring Retreat
March 23-25, 2018

The N’town Retreat will be here before we know it!  A highlight of the weekend will be an opportunity on Saturday night for our students to help lead an event with the purpose of sharing and showing the Gospel of King Jesus to other students that may be far from Jesus. This event will include 75 minute presentation by Bryan Drake where he integrates an effective Gospel presentation and opportunity to respond with his passion for Illusion. While anyone is welcome to attend the N’Town Retreat, Saturday night provides an opportunity for students to invite friends that may not feel comfortable attending the whole N’town Retreat.

Reflections on Crossings Camp

Euan Dunn

For those of you who I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting, my name is Euan Dunn and I have been a part of the youth now for about 4 years, and I’m going on my 5th. Except for my first year in the youth, I have been to camp every summer and it’s easily one of my favorite times of the year. As many of you know, this past June, we went to Crossings and this took place at their Cedarmore campus. If I’m being honest with you, I was very hesitant about going to Crossings this year. I didn’t believe that this place was somewhere that would provide our youth group with a proper experience that would I also wasn’t prepared to go to my first summer camp without our former Youth Pastor Matt Joiner, who is one of my mentors and one of the most powerful influences that I’ve ever had in my life. To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect, my brain was just oddly wired to the point, where it was only telling me that this wouldn’t be a healthy experience. Boy was I wrong.

As soon as we arrived, I felt so welcomed and so wanted. It’s a feeling I’ll never forget, people were greeting us and praying for our week and it was so genuine. I wasn’t completely ready to swallow my pride but then we arrived at the opening night/ celebration, where I would be introduced to our speaker, Pastor John Nix. He stole my attention right off the bat with his substantial enthusiasm and passion for the gospel. The whole week, he tackled so many difficult questions and guided us through our theme for the week, which was what’s it’s like to be an outsider, and a citizen of Heaven, not the world. He inspired me to form better habits in my spiritual life and it’s really been awesome learning to enjoy all these different blessings that God has bestowed upon us, such as prayer, reading our bibles, worshiping, fellowship, all of which were highly put into practice at Crossings.

One of the many high points of each day was the time where we would come together as a Church and discuss a variety of things, from how our day was going to how God was working in us throughout the week. This allowed us to get closer as a youth group and want to spend time together outside of Fusion on Sunday Nights. It was also really awesome to see different age groups constantly mingling whether we were eating a meal, having free time, or were in our rooms in the evening.

At Crossings, I also witnessed some of the most powerful worship that I’ve ever seen. The band was so talented and they were so excited to worship which is something that the youth as a whole started to do as the week progressed. It got to the point where some people lost their voice! This will forever stand in my eyes as one of the most amazing experiences that a group of kids like us can go to. A place where we can be ourselves, feel loved, accepted, and build friendships that will last forever. Glory be to God for allowing us to be apart of Crossings 2017 and I could not be more excited for what the future holds in this youth group.

Grace & Peace,

Euan

Renown will replace Reborn this year as our In town Retreat. Here is what the event promo says about it:

Have you ever asked the question: What is the purpose of the Christian life? Jesus described this life in Matthew 5:13-16 as represented by two elements: Salt & Light.

Salt represents usefulness, healing, and the ability to change things for the better, while light speaks to prevailing over darkness as a shining beacon of truth for the gospel. But in the same passage Jesus warns that salt can become tasteless and light can be hidden. When these things happen, both elements are useless.

How can a Christian remain useful to Jesus Christ the king? Renown: Salt & Light is a conference designed to help middle school and high school students understand their purpose as Christians in serving as useful elements in the service of God. Join us as our speakers Albert Mohler, Dan Dumas and Eric Geiger help guide students toward the Scriptures in order to gain an understanding for their life’s highest calling; Bringing the light and changing power of the gospel to men and women in need of reconciliation to God.

The students will still stay at group homes (Members of Springdale Community Church) across the city both Friday and Saturday Nights. The event will conclude Sunday Morning at Springdale after the 11am service (approx. 12:15pm).
Dates: March 17-19
Cost: $89
