Starting at the end of November and every week since then, during Youth Group a Student Leader has shared his or her testimony of how Jesus Christ has saved them and has worked in their life up to the present time. They battled nerves, doubt, and even fear to stand up in front of their peers and share with the group what God has done in their lives. In faithfulness and love towards Christ they have done an amazing job so far!
What is keeping you back from being a witness to the lost and dying world around you? Take a lesson from these bold teenagers by stepping out in faith and sharing what Jesus has done in your life & what He has done for the world with someone you love and/or a complete stranger today!!
“The Lord says:
These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men” –Isaiah 29:13
Jesus taught us this same truth in the New Testament in judgement of the religious leaders of His day –Matthew 23:25-26. The whole Bible testifies that God is most interested in a person’s heart and not in outward appearance. Again we see this in Scripture when God has rejected Saul as the king over Israel and sent Samuel to the house of Jesse to look for His chosen man for the job. These were God’s instructions to Samuel: “But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.’” –1 Samuel 16:7
What do you concern yourself with? Are you driven by appearance or by what is real? If everything looks great on the outside but inside you are filled with filth, what is your reward? What good is it? Your reward is what people think about you, but if they only knew the truth. God calls this way of living a gold ring in a pig’s snout. Something beautiful masking ugliness. Our culture breeds this approach to life. True followers of Jesus are being made new everyday from the inside out. Have you polished your actions in public but leave your heart filled with sin? Are you an actor in your own life? I have been. Jesus saved me from my sin and pitiful life. He has place me on the path of life, becoming who He created me to be. Will you join me? Will you join the countless others who were once an actor on the stage of their own life whom Christ has set free from Satan, sin, and death?
I only care about what is real. Appearances don’t impress me. Mere appearances don’t impress God. You can fool me, but can you hide the truth from HIM? He wants your heart not your ugly form of godliness. God rejoices in the truth, and in the truth only.
Give HIM your heart anew today.
